Lee Gardens Volunteers: Let's Get Together!

Owing to Covid-19 all of our groups have been suspended for the foreseeable future, but we are still working! Check out Covid-19 Support page to access help from ourselves and others.

Lee Gardens Pool is located in the centre of the village of Penrhiwceiber. Lee Gardens Volunteers is an intergenerational group of people aged from under 7 years to over 75 years. We work together to maintain the outdoor pool, which was built with money from our hard working miners. The pool was opened in 1957. Although Penrhiwceiber is no longer a mining village our mining heritage is very important to us.

Lee Gardens Pool was closed in 2013 owing to austerity cuts. In 2016 Lee Gardens Volunteers, with help from many community partners, re-opened this outdoor swimming pool for the benefit of Penrhiwceiber and surrounding villages and towns.

Please contact us if you'd like to be part of this dynamic project! You can be a casual volunteer or come every week; it's up to you. Some volunteers are unable to work on-site but they bake the most delicious cakes and knit beautiful cardigans and hats for our fundraising events. Other volunteers are DIY enthusiasts and can turn their hand to anything. The majority of us do the painting, cleaning, sweeping and general maintenance that is always needed. There's a job for everyone! We'd love to have you on-board.
